Finally!! I was thigh deep in Lake Superior on a hot summer day, when the sunlight lit up this white circle on the bottom rocky bed. Using my rock rake,i brought it up from the deep, and proceeded to screech, and jump(well as best i could in freezing water),and attempt to get back to shore without going for a swim. Its weight is just shy of a full pound. How do I count this beauty as an antique? Only the fact that "Lake Superior Agates are the oldest agates and the only that formed during the Precambrian Era."(Understanding and Finding Agates by Karen Brzys). Billions of years ago.Forgive me for gushing, but it took me several years of combing the beaches of L.S. to find this beauty.I have more to show at a later date,so stay tuned.
Beautiful agate !!
Now I'm going to have to post my agate's. I assume you have many more as well? Hope to see some more.
Nice Agate, Ive got about 5 Large Mason Jars full of them, I have family up in Newberry, used to spend allot of summers walking the beaches looking for those Gems!
Thanx Hedgewalker! and Vintagemad,I would LOVE to see your collection on here, yes I have more, but have only been collecting for about 5 yrs.(thats at a snails pace,w/ 1 or 2 weeks out of each year),so I keep going as often as possible.
