This is a locomotive that has recently been restored. Last I saw it it had completely been taken apart. Now it is back together and fully functional. This is the museum's most modern locomotive and most powerful at 3,600 horsepower. It was built in 1967 by EMD (Electro Motive Division of General Motors). It has a 20 cylinder engine (photo #3) that drives electric motors in the wheel housings.
Photo #2 shows the engineer's station with all the latest technology from 1967.
Last is what is inside the nose. These locomotives go very long distances and the crew does need to relieve themselves.
Later I will post riding in an older locomotive, probably next week. As usual more exciting items coming this week.
This locomotive can be seen on Wikipedia so is a bit of a celibrity.
All aboard!...such a lively locomotive you can almost hear the boarding call, love it
Cockpit looks more complicated than a lot of the early planes I've flown.
AWESOME:)
Thank you very much Newfld. I can almost hear the horn.
Thank you very much bb2. I think the brake and throttle are in front.
Thank you very much Trey.
