these bookends weigh around 15-20 lbs each - extremely heavy. when i picked them up at the second hand store, i thought they must be knock-offs from a chain store. but after examining them a bit more, i think they are excellent patinated bronze bookends from the 1920s or even before - grand tour tchotchkes? regardless, they are beautiful and i'm really glad i found them.

Nice find!! These are actually plated cast iron bookends by Bradley & Hubbard and titled "Athens". They date to around 1925.

There may be a B&H located somewhere on these. Bradley & Hubbard were considered the "Tiffany" of doorstops and bookends.

thanks jscotto - great info. i didn't think they were right for bronze, but they feel like bronze. good to know what they are and to find out they are B&H!

i found lots of much smaller ones than these online. i think mine must be the extra large version.
