I saw this little doll at the thrift and bought her. Really I know nothing about dolls except when they would come up on Antiques Roadshow. This doll just seemed charming. However, the poor dear has a chipped painted shoe and is probably missing her hat. She would have had pantaloons, too. She has had a hard life having had her head broken off and glued back on. I believe these dolls were made 1936 to 1948 as this is the bisque version with rigid legs and painted eyes ( not sleep eyes). I find it a sign of the past that the dresses were held on with little safety pins. and that's the way this one came. Signed on the back Story Book Doll USA and something else I can't read.
Nancy Ann Abbott started the business in her home in 1936 and apparently it grew exponentially.
