Added my new Legras vase, for study of first 3 vase catalogue page group. Feel it might be a genuine 1898 one on the right.
From the years of 2015 onward, French art glass was often a topic to discuss, thankfully there was some good documentation at the time.
Since then, we seems to have many more examples and research websites to study on the internet, including more pag es of dated advertisement.
For Legras the years of 1897-1899, their new objective was to provide decorative glass for the middle classes of Europe. these single vases, rather than pairs, were popular and ingenious, produced in pastel colors and hot molded surfaces. Crimped upper rims, with a glass shard spatter mix of white then several contrasting color applications. Vases are about 8 inches high. The older products show slight variations in the hand tooled glass appearance, glass bubbles and small black debris inclusions.
Will add another glass image.
Here you will find some pieces on the resale market that probably have a more recent vintage provenance as reproductions, in my opinion, the high number and perfect condition of the same color + shape offers is suspect as 125 year antiques.
thanks for the loves, added a new glass vase by Legras with the catalog examples.
