Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to find this doll maker?
I bought several dolls at an estate sale lot. I am finding now that most are marked with RP which I know means reproduction. I am trying to asses how I go about telling what it is a reproduction of? I find myself spending hours on each doll to try to find what I think it is a reproduction of.
This one is very heavy, probably 15 pounds. It feels as though the body is pellets. The hands to the wrist or porcelain as is the head. The hair is molded and the wig cap loosely attached. The back of the neck has “1653” and lower on the neck says “87’ RP”.
The outfit is poorly made and clearly sewn by an amateur. Not sure if the doll had a different outfit when purchased originally or if the whole doll was simply hand made.
Any guidance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Christen
Incredibly lifelike!! Our CW friend Manikin will hopefully step in and help you out. She’s quite the guru of dolls.
Lovely character doll reproduction!
Hi your doll appears to be a artist doll not a reproduction of a antique doll. I believe artist initials are RP made in 1987. It could be doll made by a studio so not a reproduction but artist doll. A reproduction when mean a copy of mold from a older doll. Or it was a kit . The clothes appear original.
