Top Gun roller coaster dog tags, 1983

My wife just came across these. They are fake dog tags given out to people who rode the Top Gun ride at Great America in northern California. Date was March 20, 1993. Each tag is 2 1/4 by 1 1/8 inches, and they are made of some sort of aluminum—very light. I was an editor at Sunset magazine at the time, and so was invited to a press preview. Most of the people attending the preview that day were from American Coaster Enthusiasts, whose members could make or break a new roller coaster with a good or bad review. I was basically just along for the ride.
