This Galliano Ferro bowl is 9.25" long x 7.25" wide x 3" high. It has a partial "Made in Italy GF Murano" label on the bottom, but the remains are not legible in my photo due to glare so I inset a better closeup image. I am not sure when this bowl was made but guessing 1950s or 1960s. There may be two distinct colors of blue (and blue green?), so perhaps four, not three, colors. This label is seldom seen, so may be a label used very early or very late in the period when Galliano Ferro produced similar art glass.

Galliano Ferro transitioned their production of art glass to making lamp fixtures beginning 1972 so most art glass not associated with lighting fixtures predates that year. Galliano Ferro is still in business and has a web site:

    https://www.gallianoferro.com/en/about-us/

    https://museovetro.visitmuve.it/en/mostre-en/archivio-mostre-en/farevetro-artistic-creation-and-craft-techniques-in-one-hundred-different-works/2011/10/4434/galliano-ferro-1/ :

"Vetreria Artistica Galliano Ferro was founded in 1955. The aim of its founder, Galliano Ferro, was to produce high-quality objects using techniques that were typical of Murano glass. The great harmony of form in the designs produced by Giorgio Ferro – rightly considered one of the greatest glass designers of twentieth-century Murano – would result in the company gradually focusing on the production of light fittings in which traditional methods are used to reinterpret form. This direction would be further confirmed when Giorgio’s son, Alvise, took over as Artistic Director of the company in 2001. Now headed by Paola and Lisa Ferro, the company still produces work in which the care dedicated to detail remains paramount. It is this which over the past 53 years has made Vetreria Artistica Galliano Ferro a recognised leader in the manufacture of light fittings that combine classic standards with exploration of new forms and colours."

I took a first pass at cleaning it with rubbing alcohol since it has a label on it, but the results were less than satisfactory. I later carefully washed the bowl, except for the base, in soapy water and that cleaned it up a lot more, but not as much as if I could give it a good soak. Aside from the degraded label, this bowl is in mint condition after a first, second and third look. What appears to be a scratch in image #2 was either a reflection or a piece of debris. After seeing this in the image, I took a close look and could not find it.

I found this on an online auction for $8 and free shipping. The seller said it was American made but it did not look like American glass to me. I posted it to a couple of sites and then did a bit of research and the only "GF" I could find was Galliano Ferro, but this bowl does not have the most commonly seen GF labels. On another site, it was confirmed to be Galliano Ferro with a link to a more classic piece of GF glass with the same label. It is apparently worth more than $8. Not sure how the seller made any money on this.....

It was a nail biter as the seller sells a lot of "stuff" but not much glass. It arrived really poorly packed but did have several "FRAGILE" labels and survived unscathed. Kudos to UPS!

Gorgeous Ferro bowl, and very glad it arrived unscathed, it's always a "heart in mouth" moment when you open a glass package :)

Thanks Jenni! Especially when you can tell a seller does not ship much glass.

Thanks for loving my GF bowl Jenni and oroyoroycanyousing!

to me it does, not make sense, maybe you could send a pictute to the owner of 20 century glass

I will do that! Italian glass in not my thing, so I have not enough experience to make an informed assessment. The style and colors of this bowl are consistent to my eye to a few similar pieces with traditional Galliano Ferro labels. The auction that has a better example of the label is on a piece of glass that is pretty wildly different from any Galliano Ferro piece that I can find.

Here are links to a better image of this label and the auction which identified the label as Galliano Ferro:

i am probably outplayed than, an excellent lattico from first dibs , so i surrender , strange but the quality will do the job, never had an disagreement , but the bullicante part is more easy

by the way what is going on , the same pieces are pumped around ( subcontracting?) never mind

Thanks again! I did send an email with links to this post and the auction with a label to 20thcenturyglass, so maybe this will be documented as a new label for Galliano Ferro, which I think will be quite valuable to collectors in the future, if it proves out...
