I’ve been gifted by my mother this Steiff(?) maybe- maybe not ( that’s the mystery) teddy bear that has been handed down to the girls for at least 5 generations. My mother said when she played with it as a child, it had glass eyes, that were lost, and did had a Steiff tag, her mother sewed heavy thread eyes on him later on, he has articulated legs and arms and is made of mohair. He’s 18” tall. If anyone has one like this or knows more identifying marks, please comment!! ;)

He has a magnificent fur for a bear that has been loved by 5 generations! Most bears that age have lost at least a part of their fur...
The big round ears remind me a bit of an antique Knickerbocker bear, but I am not sure.
      He is very handsome!

Thank you! He does look like Knickerbocker, but he is mohair.. we’re they mohair? The ones I’ve googled look like regular teddy bear faux fur. ???????

Ohh , I did see an earlier Knickerbocker and I do believe it may be! Mom always told me that it was Steiff…. ( the round ear top helped.. )thanks again
