I first thought this was bronze but other collectors spotted that it was not. Thought maybe resin, but scratch the bottom and now I’m thinking brass? Added picture of scraped area. Anyone seen one like this?

Here's one called 'Frightened Faun'. KIND of similar!

From what I see it is from the 1990's, so an older one. The base is not perfectly round so I think it is made of resin. The resin ones are quite heavy since they are not cast hollow. If it was older it would be hollow at the bottom and you could see up into the statue, and I doubt it is hollow.

The finish is also that of a newer cast resin piece. Photographing the base underside is paramount to identify from a picture. As you may know, the resin ones now after 2000 would be better cast. Every year they get better at making them now, the round is uneven here which it would never be if it was an antique. The 3rd photo is that of a smudged bottom which an antique would never have. The whole piece is missing telltale signs that it was handled in all the right spots and this one is without any handling signs.

His fingers are another sign, it it was an old one they would be perfect. These look as less detailed as possible, which if it was a solitary boy, they would have perfected the hands on an old one. The best ones with moving hands they could not do at the time this was made. After 2000, they did improve somewhat in their modeling.

Thank you for your comments. The bottom is not hollow, so probably resin. The blob on the base is a frog, picture couldn’t pick it up.
