The Manhattan has a brass with bronze copper body on white alabaster base with white and brown veining end pieces in working order with original cord and plug made by Lawson Clock Co, Los Angeles, California and designed by one of the best designers teams of the early 20th century, Fehrer and Adomatis, according to their Lawson Time-Table Time Creations for 1938 Catalog. According to the same catalog it had a $50 price tag which today would cost $931.08.
These clocks rarely come up for auction and I recently bought this one because it was floundering. The base of the clock was broken into two pieces and a small chunk was taken out of the front. The repair to the base was easy, I plan to find a small piece of alabaster like the base is made of, pulverize it, mix it with clear epoxy and repair the missing piece.
There is a notation on the base that says; "From Annie Christmas 1937" all I can say is that Annie had deep pockets.
Might I add ,,a Harty Quite Nice
