Mostly for RVolskay who showed us all his photo of UP #844, then kindly responded to my comment about it -- here's the souvenir hat I got several years ago when I otherwise got the (rare?) chance to actually take a little 'ride on the rails' behind this loco pulling the UP
"Heritage Train". An experience I'll never forget BTW...while also agreeing with RV that it can be just as much or even more fun to actually go "train chasing" instead -- but in my book any time anybody gets to witness these glorious old tons-and-tons of huffy-puffy iron machines, in any setting, is a unique pleasure people simply shouldn't ignore. :-)
Just a typical baseball type cap, but also absolutely authentic with its depiction of #844 and #3985 on its front and the tags inside to show its provenance. I do not know (or care, its a sentimental thing) offhand how 'rare' hats like this might be, maybe a still commonly available souvenir at UP Heritage Train showing events or maybe something more specifically commemorating the exact ride-behind opportunity I got. Another memory of that train ride -- I got to meet and speak briefly with our then AR Governor (a dude I liked and voted for?!) who was a "VIP" also along for the ride that day, who (not unpredictably?) made a walk-thru of the vintage and beautifully restored passenger cars that go along with the UP Heritage Train, to 'visit with folks'.
