i bought this large, heavy tile at an estate sale in maine back in the 1970s. it is marked aet co. . i have researched aet tiles, but never have found a tile similar to this one. it measures 14" x 11" and weighs over 7 1/2 lbs.!! i'd like to know the age & whom the figure represents. also, how it was meant to be used. i was told it is a mythological figure & from the 1800s, but i can't verify that. please help. thanks, geraldine.

This is made by The American Encaustic Tiling Company (1875-1945). You can find a lot of info at http://www.oldhouseauthority.com/archive/tiles.php
