Can anyone help me with a starting point for researching this urn? It is a family piece, likely purchased in the NY/NJ area in the 50s.This show-stopper is over 38" tall. The stand and urn have always been together, but I'm not sure they originated that way. Japanese? Chinese? Facsimile? Thanks in advance!

insert waki on cake frosting application

well sandra has to do this, i am not an an expert on application, and certainly not a moriage fan

but IMO this is real meijji, at worst early taisho could be something off but not much, there are two types of applications, you put in tiny pieces of clay or you got the more, frost

the frost caking approch , that is like squirting whipped cream which we do nowadays, it looks like the first approach and it is quite delicate , see the headgear

the green lid rim look logical ( the other design , meander rims)
quite a busy piece but no to polychrome

quite nice koma- uni on the lid, this will run , and certainly not for peanuts , mist likely fin de siecle in stead of taisho

one way or another you get value or by design or by consistent tonality or by the very good condition the vase

The stand and urn have always been together, not very likely , because the stand is late qing

and you need a contra expertise , altough i don,t like this type of wear , this has to be decent value, this is not peanuts ware,

addendum the stand is late qing chinese and the vase is japanese meijji

Thank you Apostata! It's great to have an idea of where to start. Do you think we should have it appraised?
    5. apostata apostata, 2 years ago
first of all , it won,t make the cut in the highball auctionhouses

if you got it professionably appraised you probably pay something like-100- 150 dollar max, IMO opinion it ain,t worth it

subscribe asian art research , they aren,t to give an value but the can the certify style and the periode

authorwise send some pictures to an auction house , and asked i want to sell this at your auction house and what, research do you recommend

      greetings waki

addendum there is another problem you have to sell on a live auction this in stead by internet , because it is big zised and heavy probably the shipping cost for the seller influences your ROI
