Singer Sewing Machine. I am trying to trace what model of machine it is. Can anyone help please
It belonged to my grandmother with whom i lived from birth, 1955. I remember as a child her using this whilst sat on a chair made by her husband, my grandfather, which i now use as my computer seat.
The drawers of the sewing machine are full of bits and pieces, buttons, bobbins i think they are called, etc.
I do have the lid which has faded somewhat due to sunlight. Next step is how to restore that.

It appears to be a class 66 Singer with what is called Lotus decals . If you give me the serial number from the front side of the bed just under the badge I can give you a date of manufacture and the model .

Neil : According to the Singer web site your machine is a class 66K machine made between January - June , 1918 in Clydebank , Scotland . It does have the Lotus decals which from the back seem to be in fair condition . Some of them are gone on the back edge and the middle one has some damage , but not to bad . The rest seem to be alright . If the front looks as good as the back then they are in fair condtion . It appears to have what is left of some tape in the middle . If you want to remove it be very careful what you use and how hard you rub , or you will damage the center decal even more .

      Hi Nancy,

That is brilliant, thank you so much. The condition of the front is similar, two of the decals have some damage but the reast seem very good to my untrained eye. Next stop is to try to find out how to restore the wood.

      Thank you once again.

      Best wishes,

      Neil.

ps I am intrigued. Are you located in the States? I live in the UK. The internet has made it a small world.

Tom : For some reason the Singer web site is not working like it used to . All I could find out was that your machine was made in 1919 . I do not really have the time to do any more checking right now as I need to get busy getting ready for a huge yard sale we are going to have next weekend . I will check into it more when I have the time .
