I am trying to identify the age and ballpark value of this Seth Thomas table clock. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the internet. I got it from my grandfather's estate. It is VERY heavy. Appears to be made of solid quartz or marble. The metal plate on the back reads:
FOR OPERATION ONLY ON
ALTERNATING CURRENT OF
115 VOLTS "60" CYC., 2 W.,
MOV'T No. "[can't read it]" CAT. No. "3684"
U.S. PAT 1.933.591
SETH THOMAS CLOCKS THOMASTON, CONN
A DIVISION OF GENERAL TIME INSTRUMENTS CORP
The items in quotes are stamped onto the plate.
The clock is exactly 18 cm tall x 14 cm wide x 6 cm thick
(About 7.25 inches tall x about 5.5 inches wide x 2.375 inches thick).
Made in the USA.
Thank you
Your clock is a Seth Thomas "Durango," made ca. 1931. The material is onyx. According to Stein (20th Century Modern Clocks), its value is around $150 in excellent condition. The rust/wear on the bezel will bring the value of this clock down some.
Hi my name is sonjia and my grandmother gave me a clock almost like it .the top of mine is perfectly rounded, other than that it is just as you described. It looks like marble and is very heavy.I would appreciate any other information and value you would have on it. My husband and i have been looking for some time now.much thanks sonjia.
The catalog # (3684) is for the movement only (which was available in various versions of Seth Thomas cases).
