    Hello everyone!!
Here's a doorstop I've had for a while. It's a cast iron Dalmatian that was manufactured by Virginia Metalcrafters of Waynesboro, VA. It's 12" tall and weighs 9.8lbs. Pic #3 shows the Virginia Metalcrafters hallmark as well as the number 18-10 at the bottom of this Dalmatian. It's still in really nice condition and has only experienced minimal paint loss. This one is still fairly plentiful and easy to find, so I'm not truly sure what time period this one was made. My educated guess would be the 1950's. I have a couple of andirons that are nearly identical, but made by a different manufacturer than Virginia Metalcrafters.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look at my Dalmatian doorstop!!
    Scott

      Jenni,
Thank you so very much!! I do love this one as well. He's not as detailed as my Dalmatian andirons, but still a favorite.

Thanks Watchsearcher!!! I may have mentioned once before that we had a Dalmatian when I was a kid. He was completely deaf, but it never seemed to hold him back from being playful and energetic.

Deafness in Dalmatians is a result of inbreeding, so I’ve been told.
When I bought my Dalmatian puppy, our first stop was at the veterinarian’s office for a health check. He was able to confirm that she could hear. I’d loved her from the moment I saw her so if she had been deaf, I would have loved her anyway, probably just as you loved yours.

My vet used to have a deaf dog (not a Dalmatian) who was in the office every day, visiting in the exam rooms and waiting area. The vet used hand gestures to communicate with the dog.
I had my own pet in the exam room one day when the vet’s dog wandered in and laid down near the door. After a minute or two, the vet gestured to the dog. The dog obediently got up and left the room. It was just amazing to witness. :^)
