Hi this was another of todays finds, not a clue what that was used for, the top comes off as u can see in pic, on the top is a piece of tapestry.

The needlework is called “counted cross-stitch”…. meaning the pattern is not stamped on the fabric; the person must count the threads of the fabric and stitch an “x” of embroidery floss everywhere the pattern dictates.
That explanation is probably about as clear as mud to anyone unfamiliar with needlework.
I believe that piece of needlework may have been sold as a kit which would have included the embroidery thread, fabric, pattern and frame. The kits are usually completed quickly because the patterns are very simple.
The box and needlework might be a “marriage”
