I don't know anything about watches and I wiill appreciate your help to identify if it is american or foreign made, age and price range.
It was given to my father's about 30 years ago as a gift. He never used it.
It is in working condition and in pretty good shape but it was used at some point in time. It has very few small scratches visible only with a magnifiying glass.
This is a Hamilton 971 Railroad Pocket Watch. 23 jewels, 5 adjustments, 10K Rolled Gold Plate, 2" in diameter.
In the inside of the back cover has engraved the following: "Watch Star Case Company", a star, "10k rolled gold plate" and the number "7556401".
The outside of the back cover has an engraved train. Probably 30's or 40's.
In the inside where the moving parts are, it has engraved the following: "Hamilton 971", "23 jewels", "5 adjustments", "02-5x" and "A 2814". One of the gears has engraved the word "Hamilton"
In the rim has engraved a star followed by "10K RGP"
It does not have a front cover.
In the front, where the dials are, just above the center of the watch says "Hamilton" with an stylelish "H" above it.
It has several concentric series of numbers. All in arabic numerals. The outer one has numerals from one to 60 in black except the multiples of 5, which are in red.
It is followed inward with the hours, 1 to 12 in black. Next inward in another circle has the numerals from 13 to 24 in red.
And lastly, it has a small circle in the bottom with the seconds hand and numerals 10, 20, 30, 40 50 & 60.
Thanks
