This doll belonged to my aunt who was born in 1925. She has died so I can no longer ask her about the doll. I am wondering if she is a Lenci doll? If so does she have a name? Also whether I can clean her? She has a wonderful sideways glance! Her clothing is mostly fixed to her body and she is holding felt flowers so getting the dress off would be tricky! Any knowledge would be welcome. Many thanks.
The easiest way to know is most Lenci dolls signed on bottom of feet .Check there. There are certain ways they sewed their dolls and one has to be nude to see . Zig zag sewing on back of head is a clue also. Very nice !
Thank you for your response! I can see zig zag stitching at the back of her head. Nothing on the one foot I can see (the stitching and button on one of her shoes had already gone)… Deciding whether to snip the stitching on her shoe with a button so I can see the other one!
How tall ? She has the look of a Lenci and you can stitch it back to see foot .
She is 14” tall… still considering snipping off the shoe!
