This item has been in my family a very long time. Origin is unknown. The image of Mary and the Christ child seem very similar to art of the 1400s. The angels seem more modern

Very beautiful and if authentic would warrant getting more info. The triptych frame I have not seen too many of. The pics may be 1800's but cannot really tell without an examination. Super piece all in all, many would be wowed as I am !~

When you see them at auction they are usually under the title of Religeous Icon !~

Thank you for your comments. Do you have any suggestions to check its authenticity?

I'm intrigued by the small red flame (?) on the angels' heads.

No not really, but looking carefully at other pieces to see if there is a very similar frame. Usually never found this intact, but like I said, it needs to be examined by someone who collects religeous icons. Maybe a local antique dealer would know someone or a priest. Such a pleasant search it should be for you !~ I see so many auctions have Icons and hopefully know an expert.

It also all depends on where you live ! If you lived in bush country like in New Zealand I would not know where to try first. If you lived in New York I would go to one of the many fine auction houses or fine auctions where the personel WOULD HAVE TO KNOW about icons like Sothebys and Christies where I bought a lot of my home furniture !~
