I found this in a box I bought at a yard sale and loved the look of it. It is stamped Meriden B Co and has a scale symbol and 55 on the back. I'm familiar with the Meriden company, but not sure what this is? I thought maybe a nosegay holder?
I think that you have a Ring Holder. These were usually hung by the side of the kitchen sink so your gems did not get full of soap and lose their shine or worse, Fall down the drain.
Thanks for responding. I don't think it is, it is open at the bottom, like a sleeve. Regards!
I have no clue, but it's always fun to guess! How about a flyswatter holder? Or a kitchen brush holder? Or a broom holder? (of course, it would be nice to know how big it is!)
Looks like a match holder to me. Back in the day match holders were mounted to the wall near the gas stove so the match sticks were handy for lighting.
Oh, I just noticed there is no lid. So I am probably way off!
Wait! But, a box of matches could have fit right into it. The large boxes of match sticks.
But it's open at the bottom, not the top! So whatever fit in, would fit all the way through and hang from the top!
