quite heavy vase that I thought could have a better maker (Bitossi, Bagni,......) but I like these NR pieces

the simple pattern of the decor is certainly casually applied ;-)

I often think the Italian pottery collectors get a bit disdainful of NR pieces, but why?
I have never seen NR I haven't liked, and this is a nice one for sure.

just a bit of collector snobbery

99% of people are not collectors of specific designs but most everyone wants their home to look nice

I have another 25 pieces that are likely from NR

the Italians were fantastic designers but probably not the best record keepers

NR was just one of the hundreds of pottery makers in Italy back in the 1960-70s

they used similar colours and styles associated with Bitossi, Bagni, Fratelli Fanciullacci (FF).............

this is an online post about NR

We found a variety of different pottery from this maker, but struggled to identify it. Some of the objects were marked NR and our best theory was a company called "Il Nuovo Rinascimento" mentioned in the book "Settecento anni di ceramica a Montelupo". In August 2017 Pauline de Weijer found a catalogue from German importer NB Fachgeschäft 1972 - code RIN - that could confirm our theory to the extent that we now call this maker and album Nuovo Rinascimento. It seems to be closely connected to Fratelli Fanciullacci as many of the designs are similar. They were imported to Australia by Erica and to America by Inarco (International Art Ware Corp, Cleveland, Ohio) in the 1960s.
We had also attributed a lot of Bitossi lookalikes to NR, but they have later been proved to be from Studio 4, another company known for copying Bitossi.
The company was founded in 1960 by Nedo Scappini.
