I'm not sure whether this shape is really called a wedding vase or anything really. i think it's a really pretty piece of NA pottery from the thrift shop. I can't make out what it says before the word Acoma. ?? I'd love to get more info on this pretty little piece.

i've been researching the symbols on Pueblo pottery and most are straightforward: lighting, rain, insects, plants, clouds, mountains, but this piece has some pretty unusual designs on it.

i think the design has something to do w/ after a big rainfall, the corn gets planted and grows.

i'm having fun researching this piece and learning Acoma symbolism. The water waves around the top of the design signify that we are looking at an underwater scene - i think. Maybe skates or rays? It's strange because the sea is a long ways away from Acoma, but it is known in their historical pottery.
