This Westinghouse wet cooler is my next project. I am
going to keep it original as a wet cooler. Some people redo these
as a dry cooler. Some rust, but overall in decent shape.

Very nice project ,looks to be in great shape.
I have one at my cabin for 30 years just like yours and looks in perfect shape. I plugged it in 30 years ago and the compressor hummed but have not done so since. I would like to find out its age and value if you know it. The only difference from yours is where the chiller goes into the tank the sides ramp up about 1&1/2 inch with some damage at the top edge of the ramped up part.
If it is like mine, it is a post ww2 machine. They are going for between $300 and $700 at auction in decent shape, with cooling unit not working. At this time
my cooling unit is being rebuilt like new. Then I'll use it as is untill I have time
to do a full resto on it. Fully restored they go for about $2800 to $3200.
Last 2 pics are of completed unit. Kept it as as wet cooler. Just had it
sandblasted and powdercoated, yes powdercoated. Since this is my keeper
machine for outside by the tiki hut, I did not do a "grade A' resto. Had to make new lid liners, other than that it was not that bad. Overall it still has some small
dings, but bondo won't hold up to powdercoating heat process. But I am happy with the machine for what I am doing with it.
Aside from the spriteboy decal, I would say you did great on it. I never would have thought of a powdercoat, nice job!!
Can you send some pics of the new lid liners, just brough one of these home last night, have wanted one for a long time.
Amazing job... i am now looking to restore mine and would like to get some tips on how to approach the paint... please let me know if we can touch base sometime.
That is some item. On the UK Volkswagon camper scene these go for the equivalent of between 200-600+ POUNDS depending on condition but unrestored. I know its a old post but thanks for sharing magcag01...
