The Aurora Prehistoric Scenes were made in the 1970s. Monogram bought the molds after the company closed in the late 1970s. Unfortunately many of the molds were lost in a train wreck while the molds were bing moved but this mold survived aside from a few small pieces. I think they were plants in what is supposed to be pond where the lizards are.
For some reason Aurora didn't want to call these by their names. This is Dimetrodon but they are calling it a Sail Back Reptile. These lived in the Permian Era before the age of Dinosaurs and are closer to Mammals than to dinosaurs. These were around 10-12 feet long and were the dominant predators.
Now for the model it is a snap together model. The legs, tail, neck and jaws all move. I didn't glue it to the base, it can be played with like a toy although a bit fragile. It came with a small prehistoric hammer haed lizard-like creature. Not sure if the flying lizard came with it or not. I think I just added it The model is 1/13 scale.
Now need to fear there is much more of this series to go.

The Dimetrodon seems to be smiling, while he eyes you for his next meal, lol.

One of my favourite Dino's but now I found out it's not a dino at all. I don't know how to feel.

      A good detailed model though.
