This glass globe has sat in the basement of my great Aunts home for more years than I can remember. I did ask her the history on it and it came from a small hotel owned by the family in northern Wisconsin. It seems really big to me. I am not sure what to use to clean it, or if the brownish yellow color is supposed to be on it. If anyone has any ideas of what would be best to use to clean it up I would appreciate the info.
Any general purpose cleaner would work or just warm water with liquid dish soap from the kitchen. The coloration could very well be part of the design. How big is big in inches diameter? It appears to be a typical globe that is held in place by friction screws around the lip that fits into a ciliing fixture.
Thanks, I will try warm water and all natural dish soap. It is 16 " in diameter. It was in the hotel in the mid- to late 1800's.
As for it being the pressure screw kind, usually the lip is curved, kind of a dip in where the screws would meet up with it. It does not have that but maybe it was different back then.
it does look like a very nice shade and could be part of a pendant fixture. One place to look that may help is Old House Lights.

Thank you, I will check into that. I have looked at different sites on the internet to see if I could find one like it but haven't. I have found some beautiful hanging lamps like the ones that are in the house that were converted from gas to electric.
OH my gosh, thank you so much for directing me to that site but more so for suggesting the pendant type. I had looked at that site before and did not find anything like it. Today after I went to look at all pendant type I found the EXACT globe and the comment underneath says it is a "16" Gravity hook milkglass globe. Brass fixture with original finish and patina as found. Single light. Drop 36" (as shown) can be shortened. Span 16"
I am so thrilled. Of course the picture of theirs it is beautifully white but oh well. At least I know how it would look when being used and such. Thank you so much.
