I am trying to learn what I can about a couple of porcelain signs I've had in my garage for years. The Red Crown has the green trim and I have seen where this may be pre 1927. The Ethyl Gas I cannot find any others that look like this with General Motors and the blueish green colored burst

This isn't an area that I know anything about but the graphics on your Ethyl Gas sign are exact to that shown in a large, comprehensive December 9, 1923 newspaper ad announcing "General Motors Introduces Ethyl Gas."

Thanks...Thought it might be from early twentys. From what I have read General Motors should have been trying to distance itself from the Anti Knock lead additive. I quess a few years later the additive was deemed "OK" and everyone jumped on board. Hard to believe it took 50 yrs to get rid of it. Harder to believe we had to start paying more for unleaded, to not put in Ethyl..... These signs must have really worked.

So reading a little more about sign. Do you guys think the ethyl is a rare sign, since it is a 1923 and the gov. shut ethyl down in 1924 due to worker illness. Did the signs have General Motors removed when production started back up in 1925. What do you think signs are worth. Im not really a collector and Does it help that I think both signs come from the same Ohio gas station.
