Hello I thought I would post this as it’s very nice, not sure if I already posted it, but I can’t recall, I think it’s Japanese but not sure as looks a bit Chinese.

This is indeed a Japanese bowl—showing Chinese children! It’s a popular theme known as “karako”. You can read about it here:

You can find variations of this design on pottery and also on furoshiki, kimono obi and so forth.
And this shape of bowl is usually used to hold a single serving of steamed rice, I believe.
