Just acquired this LARGE sword/dagger brooch. It is marked Made in China, but it also has another mark on the back in a cartouche. It is very shiny, so I'm suspecting some gold plating. Wondering if anyone else has ever seen this mark on Chinese jewelry?
    Thanks! Love this site!

      Hi there,
This is very cool, but I don't think it's "Chinese". Probably just a contemporary costume jewelry piece, and while the designer could be from the U.S., for example, all goods these days are required marks to the effect that they are Made in China. Especially as the quality continues to get better and better, more and more designers will be making higher-end costume jewels in China. Your piece will likely be a retro vintage collectible in years to come!

Oh! And I think the mark could be Mary McFadden.
