Haven't bought an electric fan for a while and I think I should have waited a bit longer. I have been looking for a fan with brass blades and a brass cage which I thought I did with this fan. Should have listened when I noted the fan motor is a bit small for a fan from pre 1920. Turns out this one is from 1936-1938 which is beyond the brass age. The blades appear to be brass but where the brass finish is worn off appears to be steel. Possibly a brass finish such as the type used on brass instruments. And I am seeing a little silver on the cage so perhaps gold paint. Most fans like this had black blades so perhaps this was an option in the long ago. I have seen fakes and this is not one. Just not what I thought it was.
This is a one speed fan and an oscillator, although the oscillator feature is not working which hopefully I can fix. Luckily I paid what this is worth. Looks like I will have to pay the $200 to get what I actually want.
