Hello everyone!!
I just found this treasure this week. It’s a silver plated Ronson “Crown” table lighter. These were made from 1936 thru 1954. This one was made between 1949 and 1954. It was also one of the most widely produced table lighter by Ronson. Since it's a table lighter, it does have some heft to it and weighs over 10oz. This one also still retains it's original felt green bottom, which is very rare. 1936 models had red felt on the bottom.
The lighter was severely tarnished and completely inoperable and so I landed it for only $5.00. It only took about 30 minutes to clean it, disassemble it and clean out the flint passageway, trim the wick, add a new flint and fill it with lighter fluid. She works like charm now!!

I have seen many of this model in Canada over the years, you have a nice example here. I always collected the ashtrays so I never paid all that attention to them although a lot of them like this one were Ronson's workhorses, so there may be lots more still "lost". Beautiful example !~
