Hello everyone!!
I've wanted one of these Hubley Monkey's for a long time, but most I've seen were way overpriced, in poor condition and/or cheap reproductions. So, I finally found one and, after a lot of wheeling and dealing with the seller, I finally landed one. This one is the real thing and was made in 1930. It's a three piece design held together with two screws, one in the back and one on the bottom (pic #4). So, this would have been a costly casting for Hubley as it took three separate molds to make this monkey. Though this is the doorstop version, it was also available in the form of a still bank. Though it has experienced a bit of paint loss over the past 94 years, it's still in pretty good condition for it's age. It stands 8 7/8" tall and 4 5/8" wide. I also own a version of this monkey that is in the form of a lamp. I'll post that one soon.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Absolutely wonderful monkey, I hardly ever see monkeys in glass and wish I found more, this one is really great Scott
Jenni,
Thanks!! There are very few cast iron monkeys as well. This one, along with the 1930 Taylor Cook monkey were the two most popular. The Taylor Cook version is the most sought after and the most valuable of the two.

I have one if anyone is interested. I have a very large primate collection that I need to begin downsizing. Does anyone know of places that may be interested in gaining a collection?
