This little piece of furniture has been drifting around the house for years but I think I found a place for it. Once again mentioning the new bed, it is very high and despite being 6 feet in height it is difficult to put on shoes. So it will be at the side of the bed for the purpose of shoe putting on.
I do not know if this is vintage but the screws on the hinges are slot screws. Modern furniture tends to have Phillips screws so that is a clue. The paint is a shabby chic color along with the wear on the edges which is probably from sand paper.
It's other use will be to hold accessories for the toys I collect. I sorted them out last night. It will be quite nice I am sure.
Nice!! I built a deacon bench out of cedar when I was in middle school in the late 1970's. My parents used it as a toy chest and my Mom still stores toys in it for the great grandchildren.
Thank you very much Scott. So it is a Deacon's bench.
I believe this is what is referred to as a deacons bench.
fortapache, Yup, a deacon's bench.
So even tall people have some trouble with tall beds, huh?
I recall staying at a hotel in Oregon that had antique beds, and it was all I could do to hoist my five foot self onto the top of one. >8-0
