Hey there, I recently found this and another old framed poster at an auction in a lot of other household stuff & 1800's paper ephemra. (https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/321321-older-1875-wells-fargo-treasure-box-want) That being said I'm normally pretty good about being able to judge the age of stuff, but I know that there are commonly faked, but not 100% sure on this & could use some help if possible if anything that's more familiar with old posters & signs can offer help?
- The size is approx. 10-1/4" by 7-3/4" wide. It appears to slightly cut down at one point in time.
- It is made of a thin paper that feels like parchment paper & I can feel the "letters/writing" on the front, from i believe being pressed.
- It does have tears & rips on it in multiple spots.
- It has some foxing, staining, dirt, small spots of mold on the front & rear, so it does have some significant age on it.
Also, does anyone know experience with further authenticating something like this?
Try the UV like I mentioned in your other post..this one's comes across as very white paper in your photos
The ad is like a shopping list, I could use a house servant, and then the mechanic would be great too. Pretty sad to have that kind of life !
Hello again Dav2no1,Just wanted to let you know that this one also appears to pass the blacklight test.
