This bamboo fly rod was built by Paul H. Young (1890-1960) of Detroit, Michigan. It is Young's "Parabolic 15" model, suitable for freshwater trout fishing. H.E.H., H.D.H., and H.D.G. are sizes of silk fly lines used in the 1950s that this rod was capable of casting. The ferrule (metal fastener that holds the pieces of the rod together) has an inner diameter of 15/64 of an inch, and the measurement at the end of the standard tip on this rod is 5/64 of an inch. John Weiner would have been the customer for whom the rod was originally built. See my Paul H. Young Database at http://quashnet.clarksclassicflyrodforum.yuku.com/ for more background on Paul Young, or to contact me for further information.
