I inherited this beautiful thick glass vase from my mom but have been told it is not Steuben despite it fitting perfectly in the custom foam cutout in the box. I have also been told that it may be Orrefors but the engraving on the bottom is difficult to read. It does not have the Orrefors name anywhere, but I understand older items may not have the full "Orrefors" name. I reached out to Steuben and they could not find one like it in their archives. I then reached out to "Rakow Library Ask a Glass Question" and they sent me a picture from an old Orrefors catalogue which has a very similar piece. I have found a couple other similar vases online claiming to be Orrefors. It is rectangular in shape and concaved on all four sides, widening from top to bottom. Dimensions: 3.5 inches tall x 2.5 inches wide. If anyone can help identify this piece it would be much appreciated.

Not sure if that is helpful. I will say that I have a few pieces of glass that are made by a recognized glass house and have been etched by someone completely unconnected to that glass house. Sometimes, I think they are practice pieces by an artist or done to enhance a plain piece by a third party.
Lots of Scandinavian art glass experts on this site, so chances are good you will get some help on this.
