A servant is handing Bathsheba a love letter from David, who's watching from his terrace in the background. I bought this painting at an Internet auction. Oil on canvas on panel. 25 cm X 20 cm. Signed F(ecit) v. Werff and on the reverse ascribed to Adriaen van der Werff (1659-1722) in old hand writing with pen and ink. What do you think, was it in fact painted by van der Werff ?
