I have a "Fonovox" also. Yours appears to be slighty older than mine, probably 1950's vintage. Mine is made by Loewe-Opta. T657 might be the chassis number.
I usually pay $25-40 for German consoles, I have found several within an hour or two of my house, in the last year. Most need some work and they are much harder to fix than american radios, due to construction and switch and tuning mechanism mechanics. Enjoy it if it works!
well you have answered a question for me as well! I recently picked one of them up on the side of the road in the trash, couldn't believe that someone would throw such a thing away. this certain one is in perfect condition (MINT) you would swear it was just bought!! the orig. paper is still on the turn-table/ light inside works when door is opened etc. etc. can't believe it's only worth such a small amount? well.. I will keep it and enjoy using it!!! Thanx for the info .
Hi Ron, that's fantastic. Hopefully Bill Kennard sees your post. He sounds like he knows a great deal about these guys. Hopefully, in the condition yours is in, it's worth a lot more. Enjoy! Jill
Ron, does your unit have a manufacturer name and model on the back panel?
Please post pics if you can, and include a pic of the turntable. If it's late 50s/early 60s , i would wonder if it has a Telefunken turntable (maybe made by VM in Benton Harbor, MI). Enjoy!
I have a 1950 Loewe Opta. The shop messed around with it, never fixed the
Turntabel, thats wht I want to use, dont care about the Radio, they did charge
85.--, dont know for what. Who can do the job in Columbus Ga.?
I have recently come across a Fonovox, 9060, The Mardigras Hi-Fi System, manufactured in W. Germany. Has AM/FM Radio, Phonograph, Short Wave & a lighted liquor cabinet below. Believe it was manufactured about 1940. Any idea of current value?
Pam: Your Fonovox sounds like my Aunt's, which I'm presently gearing up to work on. Her's also has the lighted cabinet below. She used to put her crystal glassware in it. Do you have any pics? My Aunt's is missing the back, so I can't determine the model with certainty. I would like to look for a schematic and/or some parts if I could verify the model. The date on her's is 1958 or 1959. I was born in 1955, and she bought it a short time after I was born.
Thanks very much:
