A great find on Trade Me (the local equivalent of Ebay here). Prices aren't what they were with our economy being what it is but when I find a piece I can't resist the prices aren't as hot as they were a year or 2 ago.
Engraved "Chuck Simpson 1988" so would have been made at the Inglewood Glassplant.
the vase is made of a purple glass that has been irridised so that the lower part of the body is reflective. The upper part has been treated very heavily and has a texture and colour of a Pau shell (an abalone elsewhere).
250mm high and 130mm wide.
