A fairly ancient looking Yesteryear. It was in the catalog later than I thought. This one was sold from 1959 through 1965. There were no variations during its production run.
The Duke of Connaught was part of the Dean Single 4031 Class built from 1891-1899. Duke of Connaught was famous for setting a record carrying the Ocean Mail from Bristol to Paddingtom in 99 minutes and 46 seconds. It has a rather unusual wheel configuration of 4 leading wheels, 2 large drive wheels and 2 trailing wheels. Having only 2 drive wheels is very unusual but it seems to have worked.
Special guest star American old timer in the last photo.
