This tin vehicle driven by a clown caught my eye at the Alameda antique fair last weekend. Really fun and colorful. I've never heard of the Unique Art Mfg. Co of Newark NJ - has anyone else?
p.s. note the postal code "Newark 8." these were instituted I believe in 1948 so anything that has one is post WWII for sure.
I have a lithograph tin toy made by them. They were located at 200 Waverly Ave. Newark, NJ. The street was renamed Muhammad Ali Blvd. The lot is still there and there is a school occupying the site.
I bought the exact same toy today at an auction in Rural Hall, NC. It works fine. I wonder what it is worth?
I own this toy and have it listed in my collection here - it ranges in worth normally from about $250-400 bucks. Was made around 1944-45. Very cool toy!
