    I picked this item up for $.25 from St Vincent De Paul thrift store. I've heard guess from a water jug to a urinal to a Civil War thing for putting gun powder in, to a Japanese bomb casing from 1920, and a top for a sign from around the 1940s to 1950s. Someone even suggested it might be an umbrella stand! But, no one seems to be sure.
