This sign is from the late 20s era. Not sure how it was used but could've been attached to a lubester cart. Great sign to have!
This seller of the same sign stated the sign was for the oil cabinet.

One just sold on ebay, that isn't in very good condition, for $320.

Here's a May 1916 ad from Vacuum Oil Company for Gargoyle Mobiloil but it doesn't show the sign:

no later than 1928 when Vacuum Oil started the merge with Socony, I've seen old pics with them on the columns of the canopy's next to the pumps
seeing this made me remember i have a very similar one, but not quite in as good condition as this one - but close. i had to go and dig it out and look at it. i hadn't even seen it in 7-8 yrs!
