What to do to that old sewing machine stand, put a granite top on, mounted the old drawers under it, drilled out a drain for the stainless steel salad bowl and added the faucet, gives that vintage but up dated look to our bath.

I think that is a terrible thing to do to a collectable sewing machine stand !!!! That is a Singer base and cabinet which are the most sought after by collectors . You could have used another off brand machine stand and gotten the same effect .

Don't worry, It was a trashed stand and this was all that was left of it, I had to unscrew the drawers off a wall in a garage and found the stand behind the guys garage all rusty, so if one day all the rest of the part come together it can all ways be put back together since I never altered any of it. I've had many of these machines and it seems I can't even give them away any more, even though I wouldn't ever have the heart to take a good one a part or alter.

I'd like to do something like this since my sewing room has it's own bathroom and I am a treadle user. As for Singer being the most sought after, not really true. They made millions of machines and there are very few treadle bases made by them that are considered collectible.

That would look great for a sewing room Susan :)
