It is a monitor trunk (sometimes called a waterfall); 1880-1910 era. The nice feature that I find about this style is the steam bent slats that run across the top. Usually metal clad, they are easily refinished. I'd suggest a paint that is used for storm doors once you get the rust off.
Thank you for the info!
If you look at the picture list about 3 months ago, you will see a monitor trunk that I refinshed and posted. I've refinished about 25 trunks and the monitor style is definitely my favorite. Good luck
Anyone know the worth?
Hey Jerry how much is it to refinish? I will try to access picture list to see your work. Thank you!
Can you explain to me exactly how to get to your pics posted abt 3 mos ago? I just am not that computer literate and need explicit directions :( sorry
Go to the Show and Tell page and page down a bit. There are three of my trunks shown (look for my email address).
If you are checking today (10/27) three of my trunks are shown as 2 months 3 days ago; 3 months 9 days ago and 3 months 10 days ago.
