    My grandfather was a WWI vet. Was gassed in France and recieved the Purple Heart. Here are his patches.

      The right side patch is 4th Infantry Division and it is WW1 era. It has red remnants in the interior and may have had an occupation 3rd Army center.

      The 3rd ID patch with OD border looks much later.
