Quite the Regal Beagle!
What we have here Steiff's largest sized and extremely hard to find Biggie Beagle. Biggie is standing, made from mohair, and is unjointed. His head, body, and tail are elaborately hand-painted with delightful shades of black, grey, and brown, giving him wonderful definition. He has remarkable three color almond shaped glass eyes in white, black and brown. His face is detailed with a black hand embroidered nose and mouth.
Standing Biggie was produced from 1958 through 1961 in 10, 17, and 25 cm. This particular example has a precious, lifelike expression.
I have a similar-looking stuffed beagle that my mom swears is probably Steiff. I think I received it as a gift when I was around 2 or 3, which would match the time frame you list for your beagle. Is there someone I could contact to find out if my dog is, in fact, a Steiff and what it might be worth if it is?
