This is a nice piece of family and automotive history. This badge was my Grandfather's employee badge from when he worked for Oldsmobile (1941-1981). As you can see from the pictures it's small (about a couple inches) and has a pin on the back.
Found this in a box of things that came from my Grandmother's house. The man in the photo is my Papa. There's a door on the back that's held closed with a small pin that's been smashed (for lack of a better description) to hold it closed. Beneath the photo is his employee number. The photo reminds me of a mug shot due to the height chart in the background (and according to that he was roughly 5'8"), and a board with his name, and hire date (black board with white letters set into the slots for them).
There really isn't much to this other than I think that it's neat and is both family and automotively historic. Sadly the plant he used to work at has been shut down and torn down. Papa was a member of the Quarter Century Club, and we have lots of that memorabilia that I may upload to show off.
I do, also, apologize for placing this in the Chevrolet Cars category. I did not notice a genaric automotive or Oldsmobile category.
At first it looks like a mug shot. Very cool piece of your family's history.
