I found this lighter when i was 14,in a spot were accordinding to history there were civil war groups passing thru in sparta,tn.Over the years i have looked for anything close, but never found anything. The only markings on it is a bird which i would guess is suppose to be an eagle and the words made in usa.Its 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 3/4 wide. The center is 3/8 inches thick were the striker fits inside, and the ends are basiclly flat.It puts you in the mind of a flat rock more than a lighter,if anyone knows what era its from or any information on it,i would appreciate your feedback.Ive been told its from the civil war but i have no ideal.my email address is willtn1@yahoo.com.If you know anything about it,id be so grateful.thanks and have a nice day

your lighter is a mid 1940's eagle model very thin lighter made by harry negbaur of new york. it would of had lacquer enamel both top and bottom.
